The blog is a place where I am going to try and keep regular visitors up to date with work in progress, ideas, new techniques that I am trying and maybe just general thoughts about the life of a photographer arranged roughly in date order. If you want to comment, ask a question or reply - just email me amanda.darcy@btinternet.com . I would love to hear from you.

English Garden Magazine Reader Day at Parham House and Gardens 11.8.08
Following on from the series about Parham gardens (see "NEWS" below) the English Garden Magazine have organised one of their excellent days out at Parham. I have agreed to give a talk on garden photography - a bit nerve racking as I will have to emerge from behind the camera for once. There will be garden tours, flower arranging demos and lots of nice food. Sounds divine.
For more details on the day see the latest copy of the magazine or www.theenglishgarden.co.uk .
Garden Design Journal
In another departure from my usual work I have just written an article for the Garden Design Journal. Thankfully, they didn't expect me to write about garden design, but about basic Photoshop techniques to get those images looking a bit more punchy than your average digicam churns out on Auto. Due to be published in September 2008.
Writing the article forced me to go back to basics and reminded me just what a phenomenally powerful piece of software Photoshop is. Basic adjustments to an image can take just a few minutes and make all the difference. Of course, truly outstanding images maytake a little longer.
